Monday 20 July

Hi from Brasil. The Saturday evening meeting in Ananaira went really well. Thank you for your prayers. There was a great (and very loud) band and our songs went down well. Georgina gave a great testimony and Chloe tried to win a box of chocolates for complimenting a friend (alas no chocolates)! Other highlights included the Sam´s, Joe and James going for shorter haircuts due to the heat resulting in them all looking like members of the band Madness when dressed in their team T-shirts and jeans!

Sunday morning we walked to a poorer area of Carire and assisted with a Children´s service in a tiny Church the size of the TCC coffee lounge. Beth led a drama of Daniel in the lions den with the children acting as lions. Izaiah´s then spoke about Daniel and at the end we tried out our balloon modelling skills (Salvo would be proud)! In the evening we walked to another local Church (there are 5 in Carire) where we sang, James gave his testimony and Rod preached.

This morning has been spent planning and checking out locations for a Kids club. More details to follow (as we find out what they are)! Part of this includes the Mayor joining us for breakfast tomorrow morning. Please pray it is a succesful meeting and the Mayor is open to what we our planning.

Please also pray for some ill health amoung the team and tiredness from getting over the time change and the heat (which is generally very nice but a little humid). Thanks for all your prayers and support and encouraging comments (please write lots more).

On behalf of the whole team, Paz do Senhor (Peace of the Lord), Chris

  1. Hi everyone - great to hear that you are having such an interesting time. It sounds as if you are being kept busy. We will pray for the heat, tiredness etc.

We missed you all in church yesterday! Alice Matthews was dedicated in the morning and Gary, a guy who is at Teen Challenge, gave a great testimony last night.

BB went off to camp today!

All quiet over here with no preschool or stuff going on ... calm before the storm of Holiday Club.

    Miss you all,

    lots love

    Dave and Alice

  11. Thanks for the update. Great to hear how things are going and pleased for you all that the youth and other services went well. Am praying about your meeting with the mayor this morning. Don't think I'll pray "for some ill health among the team" as you requested but will definitely pray about it:).

    BTW, England thrashed Australia :)

Nothing like being thrown in at the deep end (or lions den!)

Will be praying for the breakfast meeting and that you find a suitable location for the holiday club.

Praying that you remain blessed and a blessing to all that you minister to.

  15. Hi guys,
Great blog - it's really good to hear about everything you're up to!

Sam - I hope the guitar playing is going well and you remembered your capo!

Sport update for Rod & Chris - After stage 16 of TDF Contador is still leading Armstrong by 1 min 37 seconds and Wiggins is in third. In football, Spurs have still signed no-one!
